Maharati — the vocational training platform for Tunisia
Design, development and launch of Maharati (مهارتي), the platform connecting learners, trainers, training centres and companies across Tunisia, in Arabic and French.
Maharati (مهارتي) is a Tunisian vocational training platform, published by SKGENIUS and live since October 2026 at maharati.tn. Learners find a course near them, training centres manage enrolment, attendance and certificates, trainers receive assignments in their field, and companies compare quotes to train their staff. SKGENIUS delivered the project end to end: field research, design, development, hosting and launch.
The challenge
In Tunisia, training is still mostly found and organised through Facebook groups, WhatsApp and paper. Centres lose requests, trainers post their CV without answers, and funding files are rebuilt by hand. The goal was a single tool, usable from a phone, Arabic first, simple enough to replace those habits rather than add to them.
What was delivered
- Catalogue and search by trade, governorate, schedule and target diploma; a directory of 146 training centres, including the 138 public ATFP centres.
- Online enrolment with a waiting list that notifies the next person when a seat frees up.
- Attendance by rotating QR code, renewed every 30 seconds, and attendance sheets in the format required by the CNFCPP.
- PDF certificates in French or Arabic, each verifiable online through its QR code.
- Assignment board between centres and trainers, calls for tenders by lots, and company training requests with compared quotes.
- E-learning and online classes: learning paths, videos, server-graded quizzes, live sessions and progress tracking.
Key decisions
Arabic first. Arabic is the default language; interface, e-mails, PDFs, amounts and phone numbers are written and checked right to left, not translated afterwards.
No commission. Learners pay the centre or trainer directly, by the method they choose: the platform takes nothing from payments, which removes the online payment barrier in Tunisia.
Each organisation owns its data. A centre's data is isolated from every other centre; isolation is checked by automated tests, with more than 300 tests run on two database engines at every release.
Stack
Laravel 12 on PHP 8.5, PostgreSQL and Redis, installable web app, deployed on a dedicated server with verified daily backups and an encrypted off-site copy.
