AI & automation — 03

Know where AI would pay, before spending anything on it.

Two days of observation, a ten-page report: your processes ranked by real gain, what each one costs, what you can do yourselves, and the list of what must never be handed to an AI.

01The situation

Everyone is telling you to move. Nobody says where.

The pressure is real: a competitor has put an assistant on their site, a conference convinced you it was time, a vendor is quoting five figures. And behind all of it, no answer to the only question that matters — on which precise task, for what gain, at what cost.

The outcome is almost always one of two: nothing happens for two years, or a tool gets bought that nobody is using six months later.

The audit exists to settle it on numbers. We look at what your teams actually do, we measure the time spent, and we rank the options by net gain. Some lines of the report conclude that nothing should be done — that is an answer too, and it saves you more than the others.

02What you get

A document you can use without us.

The report runs to about ten pages, in plain English, and it is written to be read by a management team, not by an IT department.

Included in the price

  • A survey of your processes, with the time actually spent on each
  • Ranked by net gain: time returned, minus what it costs
  • For every option kept, a costed implementation figure
  • What needs no AI at all, and is fixed more cheaply another way
  • What must not be handed to an AI, and why
  • The state of your data: what is usable, what is not
  • Confidentiality and data-location points to watch
  • What your own teams can put in place themselves
  • A priority order, with a recommended first project
  • A one-hour debrief, by video or on site

What the audit is not

  • A pitch for whatever comes next
  • A catalogue of vendor tools
  • A study of AI in general
  • A commitment to work with us afterwards
  • Any development work, not even a demo

That is deliberate: this audit is the cheapest and least risky way into our whole catalogue. You leave with a usable document — usable, among other things, to brief agencies other than us.

The figure covers an organisation of up to thirty people and two days of observation. Above that, the price follows the number of departments to cover. If you then hand us a project that came out of the report, the audit is deducted from the first invoice.

04How it runs

Two weeks, of which two days on your premises.

  1. Interviews

An hour with each person whose job involves repetitive tasks. Not a group meeting: it is one to one that people say what actually eats their time.

    Days 1 and 2
  2. Measurement

We put figures on the time spent on each process identified, and we look at the real state of your data: where it is, in what format, whether it is usable at all.

    Days 3 to 6
  3. Analysis

Every option is scored on three criteria: time returned, cost to implement, and risk. The ones that fail all three are dropped, with the reason written down.

    Days 7 to 10
  4. Debrief

The report is handed over and we spend an hour on it. You ask your questions, we answer, and you decide what happens next — with us or without us.

    Days 11 to 14
05Frequently asked

What people ask before they sign.

Do we need to be using AI already to have this audit?

No, and that is the most common case. The audit is aimed first at organisations that have started nothing and do not know where to take hold of the subject. If you already have tools in place, the audit also looks at whether they are actually used — often the most useful part.

How many people need to be interviewed?

Between five and ten is enough for an organisation of thirty. Not necessarily the managers: the people who do the tasks, because they are the ones who know where the time goes.

What if the conclusion is to do nothing?

It happens, and we write it down in plain terms. An organisation whose data is scattered across inconsistent spreadsheets has an organisational problem first, not an AI problem. Telling you to wait costs you less than selling you a project that will fail.

Can the report be used to brief other providers?

Yes, that is the point of it. You can pass it on as it stands: it describes the needs without imposing a solution or a supplier. That is the normal counterpart of an audit you paid for.

Does it rely on tools we will have to buy?

The report states what each option costs, licences and usage included, and whether an open-source or self-hosted alternative exists. We take no commission from any vendor, and we say so, so the report can be read as neutral.
